Between Republican protection of corporate profits, and grass roots efforts driven by Rupert Murdoch's media outlet Fox News, it would seem that revamping the healthcare system is on it's way to defeat. At a protest organized by the Redding Tea Party Patriots at the corner of Dana and Hilltop Dr.'s in Redding, Congressman Wally Herger announced that health care was going down to defeat thanks to organizations like the Redding Tea Party Patriots all over the country.

I had a good conversation with Annette and Ken at the event. I hope I spelled her name right, but she had been through an experience recently with her father where he was told he was about to die. Annette went in and took all the pills he had been taking and threw them in the trash. She then got him eating raw vegetables, and concentrating on nutrition instead of pharmaceuticals, and he is now living on his own. We had a wonderful conversations as we compared notes of what we had found about how enzymes in raw vegetables are necessary for absorption of nutrients, and how pasteurized or processed foods don't have enzymes. Annette also shared with me that she feared government takeover of anything because of other countries that she had seen where they had government services for everything.

Ken told me about their garden, and how they were cut back on water last year due to the drought, but were told this year as the lake fills up, that they might not get all of their water rights back. He was also upset that they were not told last year when the district went over their water allotment, and started charging more for water. They did not find out until their bill that this had happened, and then it was too late to start conservation measures.

It seems our government, and various entities within it are starting to run like corporations instead of municipalities. I am struggling with bills at the moment because excessive City of Redding fines for late payment on my utility bill have hit me in a wallet that obviously had an empty space problem in the first place. We as a society like to destroy people if they can't pay. Bad credit ratings. Excessive fines for late payment.  I guess it's just one of those hobbies the rich like to sit in their high offices and laugh about.

I for one will be voting Democrat in the next election, because I feel that they, not Republicans, represent a government of the people, by the people and for the people. For those who think otherwise, here is some of what Wally Herger had to say at the rally. To me, it sounds like Glenn Beck, running the Karl Rove playbook.

As for the headline at the top, I was putting my camera away and getting ready to leave when I overheard Wally say that to one of the tea party patriots. Talk about missing a youtube moment.
