Enough Prejudice! Northern California Public Officials Have Problem
January 20th, 2012 by Rob McDonald
Whether it is the extreme paranoia and fear displayed by Les Baugh and Patrick Jones, or the pure prejudice of Glenn Hawes or John Day, our Northern California public officials have "reefer madness." This unfortunate condition appears to be incurable as medicinal marijuana patient advocates try one treatment after another to no avail. It is a shame the County has cut funds for mental health, just when our public officials need those resources. Yesterday the California Supreme Court took all our local public officials ammunition away. They can no longer use the few Reich Wing decisions that have come out of California's courts as their guiding light. The excuses City of Redding attorney Rick Duvernay used to close the collectives, and strike fear into the hearts of Redding's City Council members have collapsed under the weight of Duvernay's ability to get them to act quickly, and irrationally. There is no doubt that this fight is not over, but it seems the further the pendulum swings one way in this battle, the further it swings the other way when it comes back around. That is a cycle of lies, propaganda, and paranoia attempting to drown out truth. Truth and justice will always win in the end, and the truth is marijuana helps sick people. From statements released by Duvernay, it looks like the City of Redding is going to go out on a limb and push forward toward even greater liability from lawsuits, rather than dropping their new ordinance, which demands the collectives close. The collectives will have their day in court on February 27th, and Judge Stephen Baker will also no longer have the Long Beach and Riverside cases to point to as a reason why he and our local officials are allowed to violate the Constitutional rights of Shasta County's medicinal cannabis patients.
